Estate Sale

A Texas woman's inheritance included a 1851 mansion filled with Victorian furniture, a "Lincoln" style bed, Art Nouveau furniture, American cut glass, German porcelains and some oil paintings.

The inheritor could not keep everything. She had no idea of how or where to sell the items. When David Goldberg was called in to appraise the contents, he suggested holding an Estate Sale.

Mr. Goldberg organized and conducted the entire 3-day Estate Sale. He commissioned a low-cost website to showcase the properties and ran national advertising. On the day of the sale, dealers and collectors found the contents of the house set up like an antique shop. Every item was tagged and priced. The Estate Sale emptied the house of its contents and realized the highest prices for the owner.

The Right Auction House

When an appraisal client discovered an oil painting by the famous 19th Century painter Albert Bierstadt, she guessed it might be worth $2,000. David Goldberg appraised the painting at $100,000 or more.

He then arranged for it to be sold in the best venue for Western art. At the 2010 Coer d'Alene Art Auction, Albert Bierstadt's "Above the Timberline" made $105,300.

Highest Prices Realized

When a Washington state man inherited a “belle epoch” collection, he had no idea how much it was worth or if he wanted to keep it.

David J. Goldberg appraised the collection in a matter of days and delivered a written appraisal. When the heir decided to sell, Goldberg advised him on where to sell to realize the highest prices.

Attorneys

After Hurricane Katrina, David J. Goldberg re–directed the outcome of 146 cases of contested insurance claims.

Succession

When families cannot agree and Goldberg shows them the “dollars and cents of the inheritance,” they usually agree to mediation.

Divorce

In matters of divorce, Goldberg's appraisals allow both parties to understand their cash position in the impending negotiations over the value of the marriage estate.

Museums

When sculpture from the New Orleans Museum of Art went on display in public places, David J. Goldberg delivered the appraisal for insurance purposes.

An attorney representing the City contacted David J. Goldberg for an appraisal. He appraised the works and delivered an accurate and acceptable insurance replacement value. The statues, now suitably insured, grace the public parks and boulevards of Jefferson Parish, New Orleans.
